DJ's Miracle

The doctors told us that IF DJ's finger and nail were going to grow back it could take 6 months to a year for it to grow. They told us that they might have to do a few procedures to make sure that the nail, IF it was going to come in, would come in right. There were a few big IFs for DJ's finger. I was worried. I prayed, fasted, prayed more but DJ had something the doctors didn't know about.

It just so happened five days after DJ cut his finger off we got a letter in the mail. Papi was going to become an American citizen. So Papi came home two weeks after DJ had been hurt. That was a miracle in itself because Papi NEVER comes home during the season but this time his team let him go because this was something he couldn't miss. Before Papi came DJ was growing extra scar tissue that had to be burned off and the doctor said he would have to do it again at our next appointment. While Papi was here he was able to give DJ a blessing. Amazingly, at our next appointment there was no scar tissue to burn off and DJ's nail had started to grow in. The nail kept growing in fine and everything started to heal normally. Tomorrow it will be two months since DJ amputated his finger in the door and this is what his hand looks like today.

You can tell, if you look close, that it was his 4th finger that was injured but it looks great compared to how it looked two months ago. His finger is healing nicely just a little more to go on the very end that's not quite healed. DJ is so excited he hugs his hand.

I am so thankful for priesthood blessings. I hope DJ will understand one day the power of the priesthood and know how blessed he is to have it in his life. And if he ever forgets it he only has to look at his finger, a reminder that will be with him forever and, evidence of his own priesthood miracle.
