DJ's Miracle

This little boy has a reason to be this happy.
Remember this picture?

The doctors told us that IF DJ's finger and nail were going to grow back it could take 6 months to a year for it to grow. They told us that they might have to do a few procedures to make sure that the nail, IF it was going to come in, would come in right. There were a few big IFs for DJ's finger. I was worried. I prayed, fasted, prayed more but DJ had something the doctors didn't know about.

It just so happened five days after DJ cut his finger off we got a letter in the mail. Papi was going to become an American citizen. So Papi came home two weeks after DJ had been hurt. That was a miracle in itself because Papi NEVER comes home during the season but this time his team let him go because this was something he couldn't miss. Before Papi came DJ was growing extra scar tissue that had to be burned off and the doctor said he would have to do it again at our next appointment. While Papi was here he was able to give DJ a blessing. Amazingly, at our next appointment there was no scar tissue to burn off and DJ's nail had started to grow in. The nail kept growing in fine and everything started to heal normally. Tomorrow it will be two months since DJ amputated his finger in the door and this is what his hand looks like today.

Are you ready to be amazed?

Here comes the miracle.

No need to cover your eyes this time.

I promise this is not a gross picture.

You can tell, if you look close, that it was his 4th finger that was injured but it looks great compared to how it looked two months ago. His finger is healing nicely just a little more to go on the very end that's not quite healed. DJ is so excited he hugs his hand.
I am so thankful for priesthood blessings. I hope DJ will understand one day the power of the priesthood and know how blessed he is to have it in his life. And if he ever forgets it he only has to look at his finger, a reminder that will be with him forever and, evidence of his own priesthood miracle.

New Addiction

I know we're behind but we just discovered digital scrapbooking. This is addicting! Alexandria did this LO. Pretty good for a first time 7 year old.

It's a Man's Work

Can you tell what I did today?

I dug a trench with that dangerous looking thing for the hose,
hammered in a misting system for the chicken coop,
and changed the brake light on my car.

Not the normal motherly day but who said I always have to play the mom?

The Magical Foods

I have a very smart little boy with a very bad streak of luck. First he cuts off his finger and now we just learned he's got 10 teeth that will need dental work. Poor kid! None of my other children had anything wrong with their teeth just him.

While running errands in Phoenix, DJ noticed the street we were on was the same one we take to go to the zoo. I complemented him on his great observation skills and asked him how he got so smart. "Because," he said, "I eat my beans." In our family carrots make you see really good, green beans make your hair grow long, salad makes you run fast, chicken makes you strong and beans make you smart. Now if I could only find a food that gives you good luck we may be on to something.

Happy 4th of July!

We were excited. This year we were in the U.S.A. for the 4th that meant we were actually going to celebrate American Independence Day in America. There would be a parade and we would get to see REAL fireworks instead of popping balloons in Mexico for the fireworks sound effect. Remember last year's celebration?

The day started out with a great little parade and pancake breakfast. To check out more nostalgic and fabulous pics of the parade go here.
Here's Alexandria looking all Americanelicious ready for her big debut in the Hope Street parade.

The boys weren't really into the parade they just wanted the pancakes.

But these girls knew exactly what to do to show their American pride.

Since Mom (or Grandma) left us for the cool country it was up to my generation to plan the Independence Day afternoon festivities. That included cousins, a ton a food and a lot of water. The kids partied their little American hearts away anxiously awaiting the REAL fireworks.

Then it was time. Fireworks! As we sat there on the grass watching the beautiful cascade of fire our sweet Alexandria serenaded "God Bless America" and DJ, in true boy style, remarked that the fireworks looked like "shooting bombs" then asked if we could do it again.
I hope so DJ. In this unpredictable world we live in I hope we are always able to celebrate our freedom and the marvelous country we live in.
