Memory Monday

This was the very first picture we ever took with our digital camera. And of course it was of this sweet girl, Alexandria. She's three here and a few things I remember about her when she was three. First, she was THE best big sister. Second, from the time she was 18 months she loved to go on rides in grandma's car with the sun roof open and sing "I know you I walked with you once upon a dream" from Sleeping Beauty. And I just found a few words that I had written down that she used to say funny.
Piano = "plano"
Cinderella = "cindelella"
Pico de gallo = "pico m'gallo"
I know there were others too. I wish I would have written more. That's why I love this blogging thing. Stuff gets written down.

Gross, gross, gross!!

Okay guys, skip this post if you're easily grossed out. But here's the thing. Sometimes I think Papi has the hardest job in the world. He has to leave for months at a time. He spends a lot of time alone and he doesn't get to see our cute little kiddos grow up everyday while I get to stay home and take care of these four cuties. But then there's days like this when I really think that my job might have a chance at winning that hardest job in the world award. . . .

Our bathroom was stinking all day. Serious poop issues! But I couldn't find the source anywhere. I cleaned the toilet, cleaned around the toilet, took out the trash. I was getting ready to clean the cabinets when I thought maybe it's on the shower curtain which was closed at the time. So as I moved the curtain the smell got stronger and then I noticed it there in the bathtub. Brown gunk all over inside the tub! YUCK!!! Even worse the toys were covered in it. Those went straight to the trash. Isabel was standing there with me and she quickly fessed up to the disaster she made. But now I was left to clean up the mess. After getting all the toys out and picking up the gross stuff with sticks so I didn't have to touch it and then wiping it all up I was still left with this in the kids' tub.

It was stained. What has that girl been eating? EEEW! I told you to pass on this post if you get grossed out. Don't say I didn't warn you. But not to worry, after some heavy duty cleanser scrubbing and bleach I did get the stains out. And I think it is now safe to bath in again. So now we have a new bath tub rule. No more playing in the tub. They get in, get washed, get out.

So, Papi, what do you say? Am I scoring enough points to win that hardest job in the world award yet? Not that we're really keeping score though, right? ;)

Is my LITTLE boy gone?

DJ: Mom, I need to tell you something.

Me: What's that DJ?

DJ: I decided I'm not going to suck my thumb anymore.

Me: Why not?

DJ: Because it pushes my teeth forward.

He did really good all day today too. No thumb sucking. I'm hoping he'll stick to it but this boy has been attached to his thumb since he was 4 months old.

**POST EDIT** Like I said he did good all day. I could tell he was making an effort not to put his thumb in his mouth. This morning when we woke up him and AJ were playing and AJ made him mad. All of a sudden he comes running screaming, "Fine, I'm just going to suck my thumb then." That was it. Thumb sucking returned.

Like Father Like Son

We all know this cute, cheesy grin that DJ makes when taking a picture.

But did you know Papi does it too?

Spring Break

**WARNING** Picture filled post!

Spring Break was so fun mostly because we didn't have to wake up at 7 every morning but also because we planned some fun things to do every day. It wasn't Disneyland but it worked and it was much cheaper. Plus Papi was here this year so that meant it would be a better Spring Break no matter what we did. Here was the iternerary and a few pictures from the week.

Monday: cousins came over to play, yea!
Tuesday: Jeepers!

Wednesday: Zoo, but it was way too crowded so it ended up being McDonalds ice cream and play area.
Thursday: Bounce U (Isabel absolutely loved the slides but I think she like having Papi watch her slide down even more.)

Friday: Early matinee at AMC, Race to Witch Mountain

When there's not a lot of money around this is a great way to go. It was kind of like a vacation at home. The only other thing I wish we would have done was something outside to enjoy the nice weather. That was supposed to be our zoo day. Oh well the kids had just as much fun at McD's. We didn't spend more than $70 for the whole week and the kids had a blast.

Saying Goodbye

I keep looking at our blog, hoping that a post will just write itself. But it's not happening so I guess I'll have to write one. It was a hard day. Papi left for the season. The season goes through August with no breaks. Sometimes it's harder to say goodbye than others. This time it was hard. Isabel was precious. She grabbed on to her Papi and would not let go. "Me go with Papi," she demanded and she knows how to demand. The other kids managed to turn the movie off long enough to say goodbye, trying to hide their feelings by getting lost in Lady and the Tramp. After tearing Isabel out of Papi's arms he got in his car and the kids all ran out to wave goodbye as he pulled out of the driveway. He stopped just after he pulled out. I went to tell him how thankful we are for all that he does and that I'm so sorry that he has to leave. He told me to please take good care of the kids. There were lots of tears and then he was gone. It's not fair. He loves these kids so much that he has to leave them to take care of them, to make sure that they have everything that he never had. It's not right that he doesn't get to be here to tuck them in at night or play hide and go seek with them right before it's time for bed. Everything he does is for them and he doesn't even get to see them grow up. Although the plan is to go with him in the summer, I'm always hesitant to actually "plan" on it because with baseball things always change and you kind of learn to just wait for the pitch before you swing. So we wait and see. Now I know why this post wasn't magically writing itself. I needed to write it. I needed to get it out before I went to bed. This was my therapy. Thanks if you held in there with me. I promise not to complain as much in the next posts. Now go kiss your hubby and tell him how much you love him.
**Edit**This morning we woke up and Isabel asked for Papi. Alexandria told her he went to go play baseball. Isabel then let us know, "me love Papi".

I Happy

Just something I wanted to remember about Isabel at this age. Whenever it's time for sleep she always comes back with "I happy, I happy". Apparently, she thinks if she's still happy she doesn't have to go to sleep yet. Then after she does go to sleep and wakes up the first thing she tells me is "I happy now Mommy".

The Future of Star Wars

So I'm pretty sure that when they remake Star Wars these two will have a pretty good chance at getting cast as Annikan and ObiWan. I tried to keep the TV in the shot so you could see that they are following all the actions exactly.

Home Grown Eggs

So our first egg happened to be a double yoker. Cool, huh? And here's a picture of the yummy egg color after we scrambled them up.

Pals

Have I told you what good friends these two are? Chloe is the first thing Isabel asks for after she wakes up and lets me know she's "happy now". Maybe it's because they are the same size but I think that if I saw a dog come running at me full speed and it's head was as tall as mine I might be a little intimidated. Not Isabel, she loves it! She'll brace herself and once Chloe stops she gives her big hugs and laughs while saying "toey, toey".

My Little Mommy

I've been super sick the past couple of days. I hardly ever get sick so I guess it was finally my turn. And this little cutie stepped right up to the plate. She got up all by herself, got ready for school including doing her own hair and making her own LUNCH all while letting mommy sleep. She's in first grade and she already knows more about helping her mom than I do.

Memory Monday

Since we travel a lot we've learned to improvise. We can't always take everything with us where ever we go. Car seats are one of the few things that we did take and we would use them for everything: the obvious car seat, swing with some help from big sis and high chair as seen in photo above. Yum, carrots!

In Time for Easter

We got an egg!! This is our first egg ever. It was a present from our little hen, Foxy. She's an Amerucuana so she lays cute green-blue eggs. And what good timing, just in time for Easter. Alexandria found the little treasure Monday morning when she went outside to attend to her job of feeding the chickens. It was a happy moment.

Gone Fishing

The funniest part of the day was these two. We had to toss back the fish we caught but Papi and Jordan were trying to conspire some way to take the tilapias with us.

We're Private!

Well, we did it. We made the switch. I didn't want to wait any longer because Papi left and he loves to look at pictures on the blog. I wasn't going to post any new pictures until we went private so if I missed anyone that you know just have them email me at ondriadionys (at) yahoo (dot) com. I love to share our blog with anyone as long as I know them or at least have some connection to them.

Last time this happened we went private for a couple of months. I made a few adjustments like taking Papi's name out of any posts and the stalker went away after we switched back. Hopefully, we can do the same thing this time. From what I can tell they google Papi's name (or Papi's and my name together) and other blogs will pop up if his name is listed in the links bar on the side. Then they will click on that to get to our blog. Our blog does not come out in a Google search. So if you have Papi's name in your links it would be very helpful if you could take his name off. Sorry for the inconvenience but thanks for your help. Finally, back to blogging. :) Yea!!

Everyone Needs a Brother Like This

AJ: Mom, DJ was putting his fingers in the honey yesterday and eating it.

Me: Why didn't you tell me? If he's doing something he shouldn't you need to tell me.

AJ: I couldn't. I didn't want DJ to cry.
