"Campo" - farmland in the Dominican Republic. People from the "campo" are very poor. Lots of times the children don't have shoes and they have very few clothes. So the kids happily walk around naked and barefoot down the dirt sidewalks. Papi is from the "campo".
And while you can take the boy out of the campo and give him all the present technology. . .
you just can't take the campo out of the boy. Although, thankfully he has learned to use clothes, most of the time.
By the way, this comes from the man who now even has to wear house shoes in the house.

Smooshed?
I had just stripped down to get in the shower when DJ came in. He looked at me, his eyes got big and he got a confused look on his face. Finally he said what he was thinking, "Mom your boobs are smooshed." Thanks DJ!
"They are? How did that happen?"
"Probably from that thing you wear, you know" as he points to his chest. Oh, you mean that thing they call a bra that actually makes me look like I have boobs?
Yeah, thank goodness for the miracle bra.

Like Your Kids Never Did This
Sometimes I get yelled at by strangers for letting my kids walk across the street by themselves. To them I say, SMILE it's not that bad. You should come over to our house we could probably find more things that may freak you out too.

Didn't See It Coming
Just for the record Papi has never got hit in the mouth by a ball before and he's been playing since he was four. This is just another reason why Papi thinks he deserves 20% of their signing bonus.
Oh, and Papi will be offering baseball clinics while he's home. If he could teach a four year old to do this think of how he could help your teenager.

a beautiful rainy day.
What do you do in the rain?
